E. Phillips Fox - His Life and Art - Not for Australians Only! This wonderful book is now rare and out of print. What is the connection to the law, you ask. E. Phillips Fox, the great Australian artist, had an Uncle, P.D. Phillips, whose law firm evolved to the present day leading Australian Law firm, Phillips Fox. This authoritative study of Fox's life and art was many years in the making and represents a major work of scholarship in Australian art history. Fox is one of Australia's most gifted colourists and figure painters. His work hangs in the Australian National Gallery, all State and various regional galleries and the Louvre, Paris. This, the first full-scale study of Fox's life and work, contains more than 70 reproductions in colour and 250 monochrome illustrations, including selections from his previously unpublished sketchbooks, together with selected letters by Fox and a valuable and extensive catalogue. The volume is a very large coffee table type book of 235 pages and was acquired by For Counsel via an Australian lawyer. Only one thousand copies of this special edition were printed. Very good, almost new condition. The author, Ruth Zubans, is a lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Melbourne and is the acknowledged authority on Phillips Fox. Book-E.
