Mos et Lex-- Sterling Silver Cufflinks - The essence of our legal system These cufflinks were adapted from a ring now in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum with a date of 1771. The engraved saying, in Latin, translates to "Custom and Law"-the basis of our common law system. The wearing of a ring of office began early in the Western World. Roman lawyers carefully exhibited their rings while pleading a case. A tradition began of giving lawyer rings upon admittance to the bar in England in the early 1400's. These rings were simple bands often engraved with a verse referring to a legal ideal. Comes in gift box. Crafted in Sterling Silver. Mos et Lex Cufflinks Item #1433 - $55 |
