Signatures of the Declaration Unframed - A magnificent hand-colored print of the actual signatures of America's most beloved document. A print whose overwhelming value is the realization that our country's history is a personal one...that of INDIVIDUALS. Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration? Five signers were captured by the British as traitors and tortured before they died, twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary War. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. What kind of men were they? Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners. Such were the sacrifices of the American Revolution. These men had security, but they valued liberty more. Our print is a compilation of their names and a tribute to their patriotism. Printed on ivory parchment reminiscent of the 18th century. Unframed size is 18"W. x 25"L.Available unframed only.
